Betty J. Maxfield, 82 of Wauneta died Monday (Nov. 17, 2003) at the Heritage of Wauneta Nursing Home.
She was born Feb. 11, 1921, in Wauneta to Louis A. and Mae (Gains) Grimm. She grew up and attended school in Wauneta and graduated from Wauneta High School in 1938. She attended college for one year.
She married Raymond Maxfield on Sept. 19, 1939, in Denver and the couple settled in Wauneta, where the couple lived for 64 years.
She was a member of the United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women of Wauneta.
She was preceded in death by parents; and brother-in-law Leonard Dudek.
Survivors include her husband Raymond of Wauneta; two sons, Jim Maxwell and wife, Connie of Wauneta and Jeff Maxfield and wife, Kay of Taylorville, Ill.; a brother, Lowell Grimm and wife, Myra of Wauneta; a sister, Miriam Allen and husband, Chuck of Des Moines, Iowa, and a brother-in-law, Merle and wife, Jean Marris of Wauneta; a sister-in-law, Dorothy Dudek of Wauneta; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m., Thursday at the United Methodist Church of Wauneta with the Rev. Michael Laing officiating. Interment will follow at Riverside Cemetery.
Visitation will be this afternoon until 6 p.m., at the funeral home in Wauneta.
A memorial has been established in her memory.
