Margarat (Ketterl) Riener

ATWOOD --  Margaret (Ketterl) Riener, 85, died Sunday (Nov. 16, 2003) at the Good Samaritan Center in Atwood.

She was born Feb. 20, 1918, in Pocasset, Okla., to Louis and Katherine Ketterl. She grew up on a farm in Traer, Kan. She attended Green Valley Rural School and St. Mary's Parochial School in Herndon. She worked the summer of 1933 as a waitress at a hotel in Oberlin.

On Aug. 23, 1938, she married Harry Riener at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Herndon. The couple made their home on the family farm northwest of Herndon.

She was a member of St. Mary's Assumption Church, CMAS, Richland Club and Herndon Senior Citizens.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Harry; a grandson, Michael Riener; daughter-in-law, Pat Riener; brothers, Clarence and LaVern Ketterl; sisters-in-law, Ruth Ketterl and Edith Ketterl; and one brother-in-law, Matt Kogl.

Survivors include three sons, Wayne and wife, JoAnn Riener of Concord, Calif., Dennis and wife, Doris Riener of Palisade and Karol; daughter, Nadine Green and husband, Joe of Herndon; sister, Helen (Kogl) Kleidosty of Atwood; brother, Lester of McCook; sister-in-law, Anna Mae Ketterl; and 16 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian burial will be Thursday, 10:30 a.m., at St. Mary's Assumption Catholic Church in Herndon with the Revs. Damian Richards and Dana Clark officiating. Interment will be at St. Mary's Cemetery in Herndon.

A parish vigil and rosary is today, 7 p.m. at the church.

Visitation today beginning at 6 p.m., at the church.

Memorials may be given in her name to the church.
