LOVELAND, Colo. -- Genevieve A. Peirano, 90, formerly of Benkelman, died Friday (Nov. 14, 2003) at North Shore Manor in Loveland, Colo.
She was born Feb. 24, 1913, in Benkelman to Daniel and Anna (McDonald) Ough. She graduated from Benkelman High School in 1930.
She was educated as a teacher at Peru State College and Chadron State College. She returned to Dundy County where she taught at a country school near Haigler. She later taught at country schools near Shelton and Hyannis before returning to Benkelman where she taught from 1937 to 1971.
In 1941 she married Joseph M. Peirano.
She was a member of the Benkelman United Methodist Church and was active in Eastern Star. She was a past Matron of the Order of Eastern Star Holly Chapter No. 233 in 1967. She also was a member of the Matron's Club and Cardinal Key.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Joseph in 1978; brother, Walter Ough; and sisters, Marguerite Ough and Helen Schafer.
Survivors include one sister, Melba Ragsdale of Hattiesburg, Miss.; one niece; and three nephews.
Services will be Friday, 10 a.m. at Forch Funeral Chapel in Benkelman with the Rev. Norman Prather officiating. Interment at the Benkelman Cemetery will follow services.
Visitation is Thursday, 4-8 p.m., at the funeral chapel.
Memorials may be given to Dundy County Hospital Foundation or Holly Chapter No. 233 Order of Eastern Star, both in Benkelman.
