TRENTON -- Malissa E. Bishop, 90, died Monday (Nov. 17, 2003) at El Dorado Manor in Trenton.
She was born Sept. 22, 1913, to Marion and Ada (Davis) Bannister in Franklin County. In 1917, the family moved to Hayes Center where she grew up and graduated from Hayes Center High School in 1931. She received her bachelors degree from Kearney State Teachers College in Kearney.
On March 5, 1931, she married Leonard Bishop. She taught school in Hayes Center for 32 years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard in 1964; her parents; three brothers, Marion Bannister, Robert Bannister and Terry Bannister; three sisters, Wilma Scott, Marie Bodeman and Clara Woodruff; and one granddaughter, Tammie Kerchal in 1995.
Survivors include two sons, John Bishop and wife, Rose of Gilbert, Ariz., and Jack Bishop and wife, Shirley of Culbertson; two daughters, Judy Hummer and husband, Fred of Lincoln and Janet Lytle and husband, Arnold of Tepe; ; sister-in-law, Grace Bannister and Lee Bannister; 12 grandchildren; and 28 great-grandchildren.
Services will be Thursday, 10 a.m., at Bethel Baptist Church in Hayes Center with the Rev. Russell Armstrong officiating. Interment will be at the Hayes Center Cemetary.
