Betty Ellen Brooks, 75, of Grand Island, died Saturday (Nov. 15, 2003) at her home.
Services are 2 p.m., Wednesday at All Faiths Funeral Home, Grand Island. The Rev. Carl Fehwaldt will officiate. Burial is in Grand Island Cemetery.
Visitation Tuesday, 3-8 p.m., at the funeral home.
She was born March 12, 1928, at Franklin, the daughter of Lawrence and Jessie (Terrell) Gray.
Survivors are daughter Candy Brooks of Grand Island, son and daughter-in-law Kenneth and Osa Brooks of Hastings, sisters Leota Collins and Dorothy Gray, both of Modesto, Calif.
Other survivors include grandchildren Joann Brooks and Kenny Brooks, Jr., and great-grandson Andrew Deschinger.
She was raised on the family farm near Franklin and graduated from Franklin High School. She married Herbert "Clint" Brooks Sept. 6, 1950 in McCook. She attended nursing school in North Platte and worked as a LPN in McCook and Stratton. They moved to Kearney in 1977 and Grand Island in 1979. Mr. Brooks died Jan. 23, 1998.
She was a country western musician, performing at Park Place Nursing Home. She enjoyed raising her chicken, reading and embroidering. She lived for music.
Her husband, infant son and daughter, brother Duane Gray and sister Fern Gray and parents preceded her in death.
Memorials are suggested to the family.
