Hilda L. Eaton

OBERLIN -- Hilda L. Eaton, 90, died Saturday (Nov. 8, 2003) at Decatur County Hospital in Oberlin.

She was born Jan. 19, 1913, to Dick and Maude Moore on a farm in Smokey Hill Township in Ellis County, Kan. She attended Good Hope School until the ninth grade. The went to Hays High School for the next three years.

On Aug. 26, 1931, she married Everett Eaton in WaKeeney, Kan. Her husband began a job with the power company in Hays.

In January of 1952, her husband transferred to Atwood to manage Central Kansas Power Company and the couple lived their for the remainder of their lives. She was a homemaker.

She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Radiant Chapter No. 229 of Atwood, the Rebekah Lodge No. 331 of Atwood and the United Methodist Church in Atwood.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Everett.

Survivors include two daughters, Wilda and husband, Charles Walker of Ludell and Mary and husband, Wes Bruce of South Hutchinson, Kan.; two brothers, Richard Moore of Hays and Leonard and wife, Marjorie of Great Bend; five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Services were Monday, at United Methodist Church in Atwood. Interment was at the Atwood Fairview Cemetery. Concluding services were by the Order of Eastern Star, Radiant Chapter No. 229 of Atwood.
