IMPERIAL -- Dorrence Dwight Scott, 72, died Tuesday (October 28, 2003) at Chase County Community Hospital in Imperial.

He was born Feb. 15, 1931, to Harley Allan and Helen Marie (Phelps) Scott in Trenton. He attended school in Palisade.

On Dec. 26, 1950, he entered the Navy and served on the USS Piedmont during the Korean Conflict. He was honorably discharged Oct. 11, 1954.

On June 27, 1949, he married Virginia Ann Cook in McCook. To this union, three children were born. The couple spent most of their life in the Wauneta community. He was employed by Wauneta Co-op Oil Company as a truck driver and tire specialist. He retired in 1994, after 31 years of service.

He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Harley and Helen Scott; two brothers, infant Darwin and Gene Scott; two sisters, infant Mavis and Phyllis Loper; and brothers-in-law, Wayne Hastings and Dean Loper.

Survivors include his wife, Virginia Scott of Wauneta; his children, Vickie and husband, Tim McGinley of Chester, the Rev. Darwin Scott and wife, Vicki of McCook and Sue Schneider of Wauneta and her special friend, Dan Kunneman, of Imperial; two brothers, Verdon Scott and wife, Denise, and Ron Scott and wife, Julie, all of Hayes Center; one sister, Joyce Hastings of Hayes Center; 14 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Services will be Friday, 2 p.m., at Carpenter Breland Funeral Home with the Rev. Richard Karr officiating. Burial will be at the Trenton Cemetery with a military committal.

Visitation is Thursday 9 a.m.-8 p.m.

Memorials may be given in his name.
