Grace Marie Dack

Grace Marie Dack died Monday, Oct. 27, 2003, at McCook Community Hospital. She was 86 years old.

Grace was born on March 10, 1917 at Oxford, to August and Mary (Wolfram) Grafel. She graduated from Herndon High School.

On May 13, 1942, she married Clyde F. "Bud" Dack. They farmed southwest of McCook until 1960, at which time they moved to McCook. Grace was employed as a sales clerk and later became manager of Fashion Fabric for many years.

Grace was a member of Memorial United Methodist Church and the Methodist Quilting Ladies. She was also a member of the McCook DOES, the Past-Presidents Club and was a 4-H Leader for many years. In her spare time she loved making quilts for her family and friends, playing cards, being in her garden, and especially spending time with her family.

Preceding her in death were her parents, August and Mary Grafel; her husband, Bud Dack on Feb. 16, 1991; one brother, Harry Grafel; five brothers-in-law, Leo Crocker, Bill Brown, John Dack, Robert Dack and L.T. "Dutch" Eisenbarth.

Survivors include her son, Dean Dack and wife, Vesta, of McCook; three brothers, Ray Grafel and wife, Barbara, of McCook, Harlan Grafel and wife, Norma, of Herndon and Elmore Grafel and wife, Beverly of Culbertson; three sisters, Gladys Crocker of McCook, Beulah Brown of Fort Morgan, Colo., and Donna and husband, Ted Hoxie of Lincoln; three sisters-in-law, Patty Grafel of Trenton, Dorothy and husband Dick Nielson and Betty Dack all of McCook; one brother-in-law, Richard Dack and wife, Karen, of McCook; two grandchildren, Cindy and husband, Terry Nichols of Wauneta and Del Dack and wife, Geri, of Paxton; five great-grandchildren, Chase and Cody Nichols of Wauneta and Josh, Michelle, and Taylor Dack of Paxton; many relatives and a host of friends.

Memorials may be given in her name.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, Oct. 29, 2003, 11 a.m., at Memorial United Methodist Church with the Rev. Dr. Jeff Thurman officiating. Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery.

Visitation is Tuesday from 9 a.m. until 8 p.m.
