ATWOOD -- Florence Caroline (Peterson) Learned, 80, died Friday (Oct. 24, 2003) at Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney.
She was born June 11, 1923, to Albert and Florence Peterson in Gassville, Ark. The family moved to Ottawa, Kan., shortly after her birth. She attended Ottawa Public Schools.
On March 26, 1945, she married Oscar Learned at the Ottawa Free Methodist Church. During World War II, she worked in a tent factory where she contributed to the war effort. Following her husband's discharge from the armed services, the couple made their home in Zenith, Kan., on the Learned family homestead. She was a homemaker.
She was a member of the United Methodist Church, the women's group, the EHU Extension Club, the Rebekah Lodge, all of Atwood, and was a former member of the Stafford United Presbyterian Church and Zenith United Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include her husband, Oscar of Atwood; one sisters, Charleen Roberts of Williamsburg, Kan.; her children, Lena Ewing of Denver, Colo., and Albert Learned of Oklahoma City, Okla.; and five grandsons.
Services will be Tuesday, 2 p.m., at the United Methodist Church in Atwood with the Rev. Terry McGuire officiating. A graveside service and interment is Wednesday, 1 p.m., at the Stafford Cemetery in Stafford, Kan.
Visitation is today, 2-9 p.m., and Tuesday, after 1 p.m., until service time.
Memorials may be given in her name to the United Methodist Church, Atwood Second Century Fund or to the charity of the donor's choice.
Williams Funeral Home of Atwood is in charge of the arrangements.
