Wanda Mae Bodeman

Wanda Mae Bodeman of Hayes Center, died Saturday, Oct. 18, 2003, at the Sutherland Care Center. She was 73 years old.

Wanda was born on Nov. 1, 1929, in Culbertson, to Ross Sidney and Joyce Dee (Johnson) Mosley. She attended rural school in northwest Hayes County and graduated from Hayes Center High School in 1948. She graduated from McCook College in 1950 earning a teaching certificate. She went on to teach in the same rural school she attended until her marriage.

On March 14, 1952, she married Curtis Dwayne Bodeman. To this union four children were born. They lived most of their married life on a farm south of Hayes Center on the Black Wood Creek. Wanda was a homemaker and helped with the family farming.

She was active in the church having accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as her Savior when she was four years old. In her free time she loved being in her vegetable and flower garden. Her most joy came from spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Preceding her in death were her parents; two brothers, Mickey and DeWayne Mosley; and two brothers-in-law, Hershel Evans and Alan Bodeman.

Survivors include her husband of 51 years, Curtis Bodeman of Hayes Center; one daughter, Debra and husband, Larry Schneider, of Bridgeport; three sons, Kirk Bodeman of Hayes Center, Rick Bodeman and wife, Betty, and Jon Bodeman and wife, Cheri, all of North Platte; one brother, Raymond "Buck" Mosley and wife, Patricia, of Salem, Ohio; four sisters, Shirley Evans of Hayes Center, Joanne and husband, John Bailey of Green Forest, Ark., Priscilla and husband, Jim Phillips, of Albuquerque, N.M.; and Judy Grainer of Durango, Colo.; twenty four grandchildren Riley and Patircia Schneider, Luke Schneider, Joshua and Misty Bodeman, Blake, Derek, Gabriel, Wade and Tucker Bodeman, James Bunyan, Tamra and Grant Portner, Shawna , Amanda, Jessica, and Jamie Schneider, Brett and Libby Harsh, Abbi and Jake Saivre, Justin Bostock and Shona and Scott Carlin; seven great-grandchildren, Casey Carlin, Brooke, Lawrence and Dori Schneider, Charlie, Kacey and Dalton Portner; many relatives and a host of friends.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, Oct., 22, 2003, 10 a.m., at the Bethel Baptist Church in Hayes Center. Pastor Russ Armstrong will be officiating. Burial will be in the Hayes Center Cemetery. Memorials may be given to the Bethel Baptist Church. Visitation will be Monday until 8 p.m. and Tuesday 9 a.m. until 8 p.m.
