NORTH PLATTE -- Shirley Ann Hansen, 66, died Wednesday (Oct. 15, 2003) at the Great Plains Regional Medical Center in North Platte.

She was born Oct. 24, 1936, at McCook, to Earl Harold and Cecile Viola (Larrington) Beebe. She attended McCook Public Schools.

On April 28, 1952, she married Dean Thomas Hansen at Oberlin. To this union five children were born. The couple made their home in Hayes Center until 1979 when they moved to Lincoln. She ran her own daycare for several years. After their retirement in 1999, they returned to the Hayes Center community.

She attended the Union Congregational United Church of Christ. She was active with the children teaching Awana class in Lincoln as well as Hayes Center.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Earl and Cecile Beebe; and one grandson, James Dean VanCura.

Survivors include her husband, Dean Hansen of Hayes Center; two sons, Thomas Hansen and wife, Virginia, of Anaheim, Calif., and Jerry Hansen and wife, Susan, of Bogart, Ga.; three daughters, Betty and husband, Earl Raker, of Hayes Center, Mary and husband, Derek Jensen, of Larimore, N.D., and Nancy VanCura of Hayes Center; two brothers, Harold Beebe and wife, JoAnn, of McCook and Donald Beebe and wife, Sharon, of Garden Grove, Iowa; two sisters, Marjorie and husband, Lloyd Foster, of Holdrege and Lillie and husband, Jerry Corder, of McCook; 12 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Services are Monday, 10:30 a.m., at the Union Congregational United Church of Christ in Hayes Center with the Revs. Fay Ann Blaylock and Jerry Hansen officiating. Burial will be at Hayes Center Cemetery.

Visitation is Saturday 9 a.m. until noon and Sunday 4-7 p.m.

Memorials may be given in her name.

Carpenter Breland Funeral Home is in charge of her arrangements.
