Bertrand, Cambridge, Dundy County spikers win RVL openers
ARAPAHOE -- Bertrand, Cambridge and Dundy County each opened with a win at
the Republican Valley League volleyball tournament Monday night.
In the first round match, Bertrand defeated Alma, 15-3, 10-5, 15-7.
Cambridge defeated Southern Valley, 15-6, 15-5.
Cambridge's Chelsea Ruf had 17 set assists, 2 service aces and 9 service pints. Dana Volk was 18-for-21 in attacks with 8 kills, added 2 digs, 1 service ace, 1 ace block and 5 points.
Amy Edgerton was 14-for-17 in attacks with 5 kills, added 4 digs, 1 service ace, 2 ace blocks and 5 points.
Andi Langley was 3-for-3 in attacks with 3 kills and added 1 dig, 1 set assist, 1 ace block and 1 point.
Lisa Minnick was 11-for-12 in attacks with 5 kills and added 2 digs, 1 service ace, 1 ace block and 5 points. Cassie Bruckman was 1-for-1 in attacks.
Kaci Nickerson was 4-of-r7 in attacks with 1 kill and added 3 points. Ashley Rice was 1-for-1 in attacks with 1 kill and added 2 points.
The Eagles' Macenzie Quinn and Megan Becker each finished with 3 kills in the opening round loss. Sam Luther had 8 set assists. Jenee Perkins had 2 ace serves.
Dundy County defeated host school Arapahoe, 15-6, 15-8.
The tournament continues tonight with matchups between Bertrand and Cambridge and Dundy County and top-seed Republican Valley, which had a bye in the first round.
Eustis-Farnam Knights 1-2 at CPC tournament
NORTH PLATTE -- Eustis-Farnam went 1-2 at the Central Platte Conference volleyball tournament in North Platte on Saturday, opening with a win over Maxwell before falling to Paxton and Arnold.
The Knights were led by Ashton Rieker with 8 kills in the win over Maxwell, 17-15, 5-15, 15-11.
Lisa Fagot and Halea Messersmith each finished with eight set assists.
Eustis-Farnam lost to unbeaten Paxton, 5-15, 6-15, in the second round.
Rieker was held to 3 kills, while Messersmith had 4 set assists and 9 digs.
The final game saw a three-set loss to Arnold, 15-9, 12-15, 7-15.
Messersmith had a team high 24 digs and four ace serves. Three other Knights had 2 aces in the loss.
Eustis-Farnam (5-10) takes on Anselmo-Merna on Friday.
