OBERLIN -- Grace M. Sumner, 102, died Sunday (Oct. 5, 2003) at Decatur County Hospital in Oberlin.

She was born July 29, 1901, to Wesley and Etta (Aller) Spence in Pleasant Hill. The family lived in Pleasant Hill for a while, but then moved to Wilsonville.

On Sept. 7, 1921, she married Robert C. Sumner in Norton. She was a homemaker.

She resided in Norton County on a farm, until retiring and moving to Cambridge in 1968. She was a resident of the Andbe Home in Norton, Kan., Willow Ridge in McCook and then Cedar Living Center in Oberlin, Kan.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Robert; one daughter, Dixie Lebsack in 1986; three brothers, Walter, Floyd and Kenneth Spence; and one sister, Fern Moore.

Survivors include her son Howard Sumner of Norcatur; five grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and nine great-great-grandchildren.

Services are Friday, 2 p.m., at Pauls Funeral Home in Oberlin with Jim Plotts officiating. Interment will be in Norcatur Cemetery.

Visitation is Thursday, 8 a.m.-8 p.m., and Friday after 8 a.m. at the funeral home.
