Cross, Mires wed in Indiana Church

RICHMOND, Ind. -- Whitney Anne Cross and Jonathan Michael Mires, both of Richmond, Ind., were united in marriage July 19, 2003, at First Presbyterian Church in Richmond with the Rev. James Spon and Terry Campbell officiating.

Parents of the couple are Ron Cross of Richmond, Linda Owens of Phoenix, Ariz., and Butch and Mary Jane Mires of McCook.

Grandparents of the couple are James and Evelyn Cross of Monticello, Ky., the late Walter and Laura Roberts, Marjorie Mires of Tacoma, Wash., and the late Elmer Mires, and the late W.E. and Bertha Prochazka.

The bride carried a bouquet of pink alstroemeria, white roses, yellow daisies and blue delphinium.

The matron of honor was Carole Amendola of Orlando, Fla. The bridesmaids were Jennifer Elstro of Indianapolis, Ind., Becca Keltner of Baltimore, Md., Becky Arnold of Richmond, Marisa Nottingham of Richmond and Sarah Johnson of St. Louis, Mo. They each wore lavender gowns and carried calla lilies tied with silk ribbon.

The best man was Joe Buresh of Phillipsburg, Kan. The bridegroomsmen were John Christensen of Dallas, Texas, Scott Johnson of Omaha, Jason Durocher of Hastings, Josh Nottingham of Richmond and Justin Cross, brother of the bride.

The ushers for the ceremony were Matt Kaminski of North Platte, Wes Davis of Nevada, Iowa, Lance Kuhlman of Elkhorn and Sam Beasley of Muncie, Ind.

The pianist for the ceremony was Debra Shank of Springfield, Ohio. The soloist was Lori Fowler of Richmond. The guitarist was Colby Schaub of Nashville, Tenn.

Readers for the ceremony were Jennifer and Howard Millsaps of Centerville, Ind., and Troy and Liz Shockey of Upland, Ind.

The reception and dance was at the Earlham College Runyan Center. The hostesses were Valarie Prochazka of Hays, Kan., Veanna Loucks of Salina, Kan., Angela Krahe of Topeka, Kan., and Venessa Merz of Atwood, all cousins of the bridegroom.

Cake servers were Pat Prochazka of Atwood, Janet Krahe of Topeka, Jan Tolly of Wausau, Wis., and Judy Baker of New Salisbury, Ind., all aunts of the couple.

The bride is a 1997 graduate of Richmond High School and a 2001 graduate of Taylor University in Upland, Ind., with a bachelor of arts degree in Spanish education. She is teaching Spanish at Connorsville, Ind., High School. She is pursuing her master's degree in Christian counseling.

The bridegroom is a 1994 graduate of McCook High School and a 1998 graduate of Hastings College in Hastings with a bachelor of arts degree in public relations and communications. He is the sports information director at Earlham College of Richmond.

The couple honeymooned at Sandusky Bay on Lake Erie in Marblehead, Ohio.

The couple is making their home at 232 South 32nd Street, Richmond, IN 47374.
