Summer ceremony unites couple

OBERLIN -- Krista Simonsson and Brian Gutchewsky were united in marriage Aug. 2, 2003, during a candlelight ceremony at Faith Lutheran Church in Oberlin with the Rev. Charlotte Stecker-Baseler officiating.

Parents of the couple are Brian and Pam Simonsson of Oberlin and Jack and Mary Gutchewsky of Herndon.

Grandparents of the couple are Robert and Sharon Ream, Walt and Joanne Castle, Marvin and Sharon Slabaugh, Johnnie and Connie Simonsson, Everett and Ila Myers, Victor and Opal Bryan, the late Marion and Freda Nokes and the late Joseph and Bernice Gutchewsky.

The bride wore a satin, strapless, beaded A-line gown.

Angela Ayers of Oberlin, served as the maid of honor. Lacey Badsky of Hays, Kan., Sarah Uerling of McCook, and Tammy Gutchewsky of Oberlin, served as bridesmaids. They each wore a burgundy, floor-length gown. Danielle Diederich of Oberlin was the bride's personal attendant.

The best man was Trent Wilson of North Platte. Travis Castle of Lawrence, Kan., Joel Uerling of McCook and Hunter Bryan of Oberlin served as bridegroomsmen.

The flower girl was Taylor Simonsson of Wamego. The ring bearers were Braylon and Colton Simonsson of Wamego.

The ushers were Robbie Reed of Lawrence and Jeremy DeMoss of Kearney. The candlelighters were Breck and Nathan Simonsson of Oberlin.

The lector was Rob McFee of Oberlin.

The organist was Joy Russell. The vocalists were Lacey Badsky and the Rev. Charlotte Strecker-Baseler.

Abby and Lacey Ream passed out programs. Tiffany Quaduor was the guestbook attendant.

The reception was at the Oberlin American Legion with aunts and uncles of the bride serving as hosts and hostesses. Phyllis Zeller, Shirley Axtell, aunts of the bridegroom, and Kathleen Quaduor, Sue Zeller, Britney Zeller, cousins of the bridegroom, were the reception servers. Kaydee and Andy Leitner and Derek Zeller attended the gift table.

The couple honeymooned on a cruise to Cozemel, Mexico. The bride is a graduate of Decatur Community High School and is a nursing student at the KU School of Nursing. The bridegroom is also a graduate of Decatur Community High School and of Mid-Plains Community College in North Platte. He is employed by Kaw Valley Heating and Cooling in Lawrence.

The couple is making their home in Lawrence.
