Helicopter open house

Wednesday, September 24, 2003

Major Kevin Bricker of Lincoln stands beside one of two Bell Jet Ranger OH 58 helicopters parked on the front lawn of Ag Hall at the Nebraska School of Technical Agriculture in Curtis Tuesday evening. The Nebraska Army National Guard hosted an open house to explain plans to create an helicopter training area over southeastern Lincoln County and northern Frontier County. Farmer/rancher Melvin Towne of Curtis said he's afraid the helicopters' noise will frighten his cattle. Maxwell-area farmer Mike Reynolds gave the Guard permission to land their choppers anywhere on his property away from his family's house and the power lines. Reynolds said, "I only have 40 acres, but I have no problem with you landing on 38 of them."
