COZAD -- Violet Maline, 87, died Tuesday (Sept. 9, 2003) at the Cozad Hospital in Cozad.
She was born Dec. 11, 1915, to John and Nellie (Cunningham) Patterson in Cozad. She attended schools in Brady and Cozad. She graduated from Cozad High School in 1934.
On Sept. 9, 1934, she married Quentin Maline. They made their home east of Cozad before moving to a farm site north of Cozad where they resided for 42 years. In 1984, the couple moved in to Cozad. She taught Sunday school at her church. She was a lifetime member of the First United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women. She was a former member of an extension club.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Quentin, in 1994; an infant brother, Archie; two brothers, Milo and Vernel; a foster sister, Thelma Lee; and two grandsons.
Survivors include three daughters, Beverly and husband, Winfred Bratten of Brady; Linda and husband, Dale Linke of Cozad and Judy and husband, Don Schmidt of Elkhorn; a son, Tom Maline, DVM and wife, Judy of Holbrook; 12 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
Services are Friday, 11 a.m., at the First United Methodist Church in Cozad with the Rev. Lyle Schoen officiating. Interment will be in the Cozad Cemetery.
Visitation is Thursday, 9 a.m.-8 p.m., at the Berryman Funeral Home in Cozad.
