OBERLIN -- Reinhard W. May, 78, died Friday (Sept. 12, 2003) at Calichia Heart Hospital in Wichita, Kan.
He was born July 25, 1925 in rural Oberlin to Herman and Helena (Roetter) May. He was raised on a farm in Decatur County and attended parachial school. He graduated from Decatur Community High School in 1943.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. After leaving the military, he returned to the family farm and moved to Oberlin the 1970s.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Hubert and Elmer; a brother-in-law, Atley Muirhead; a nephew, Daniel May; and a niece, Barbara (May) Jappinen.
Survivors include his sister, Karolyn Muirhead of Oberlin.
Services were today, 10 a.m., at St. John's Lutheran Church in Oberlin with the Rev. Don White officiating. Interment was at the Oberlin Cemetary.
Memorials may be give in his name to St. John's Lutheran Childrens Educational Fund.
