Neal Eldon Pursley

BENKELMAN -- Neal Eldon Pursley, 64, died Sunday (Sept. 16, 2001) at his home in Benkelman.

He was born Feb. 3, 1927, at Benkelman to Clarence and Pearl (Osborn) Pursley. He attended school in Benkelman, graduating from Benkelman High School in 1957.

On Sept. 7, 1969, he married Donna Walter at Haigler. They lived in Benkelman their entire married lives. He worked as a service attendant for Youngston Oil, and later for Four Circle Co-of until his retirement in 1990. During his retirement he worked at the Dundy County Schools at the bus barn and high school through the Green Thumb program.

He was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church, the Benkelman Volunteer Fire Department and the Odd Fellows Lodge No. 361.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Donna in 1998; and fve brothers, Raymond, Melvin, Dale, Thelman and Clarence, Jr.

Survivors include two daughters, Lisa Geiken and husband, Todd of Gothenburg, and Janet Pursley of Lincoln; one sister, Donna Hubbard and husband, Rodney of Greeley, Colo.; one brother, Jack Pursley and wife, Bettye of Benkelman; and one grandson.

Services were today at the Zion Lutheran Church in Benkelman with the Rev. George Matthew officiating. Interment was at the Benkelman Cemetery.

Forch Funeral Chapel of Benkelman was in charge of the arrangements.
