Alvina Augusta (Nehring) Kogl

HERNDON -- Alvina Augusta (Nehring) Kogl, 90, died Saturday (Sept. 22, 2001) at her home in Herndon.

She was born April 21, 1911, at St. Mary's, Iowa, to Otto H. and Agatha (Lippold) Nehring. The family moved to Herndon when she was nine years old, where she resided for the rest of her life. She attended the Herndon schools, and graduated from high school with honors in 1927.

On June 3, 1930, she married Clemens Kogle at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Herndon. They were farmers.

She was a member of the St. Mary's Catholic Church, the Christian Mothers Altar Society, and the Richland Club.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband,Clem; one son-in-law, Peter Reinert; and one grandson-in-law, Richard Braasch.

Survivors include five children, Clemens and wife, Rose Marie of Culbertson, Dorothy R. Reinert of Atwood, Melvin Kogl and wife, Regis of Lakewood, Colo., Eileen Unger and husband, Charles of Herndon, and Thomas Kogl and wife, Jean of Herndon; 23 grandchildren; and 34 great-grandchildren.

Mass of Christian Burial services will be Wednesday, 10:30 a.m., at the St. Mary's Assumption Catholic Church of Herndon with the Rev. Damian Richards officiating. Interment will be at the St. Mary's Cemetery in Herndon.

A parish vigil and Christian Mothers Altar Society rosary service is tonight, 7:30 p.m., at the church.

Visitation is today until 5:30 p.m., at Williams Funeral Home of Atwood, and after 6:30 p.m. at the church in Herndon.

Memorials may be given in her name and left at the funeral home.
