HERNDON, Kan. -- Joseph "Buddy" G. Hutfles, 44, died Sunday (Sept. 30, 2001) at Herndon.
He was born Oct. 12, 1956, at Atwood, Kan., to Joseph "Bud" M. and Mildred "Milly" (Riepl) Hutfles. He attended St. Mary's Parochial School in Herndon, and graduated from Herndon High School in 1974. After graduation he helped his father with the Hutfles farming operation. After his father's death, he continued the operation as a farmer and stockman. At the time of his death he was employed by Valmont Industries of McCook.
In 1997 he married Karmel Brown Chambers.
He attended church at St. Mary's Assumption Catholic Church in Herndon.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include his wife, Karmel of Herndon; two step-sons, Brett and Daron Chambers; one brother, David J. Hutfles and wife, Krystal of Herndon; aunts, uncles and cousins.
Mass of Christian Burial services will be Wednesday, 10:30 a.m., at the St. Mary's Assumption Catholic Church at Herndon with the Rev. Damian Richards officiating. Interment will be at St. Mary's Cemetery in Herndon.
A parish vigil and rosary service is tonight, 7:30 p.m., at the church.
Visitation is today until 5 p.m. at Williams Funeral Home of Atwood, and after 6:30 p.m. at the church.
Memorials may be given in his name.
