Edgar S. Johnson

DENVER, Colo. -- Edgar S. Johnson, 63, died Sunday (Oct. 7, 2001) at Presbyterian St. Luke's Hospital in Denver. He was born Sept. 29, 1938, at Denver to Edgar C. and Marie C. (Miller) Johnson.

He was a U.S. Army veteran, and had worked for 7-UP Bottling Company, Sears, and was a self-employed manuscript typist.

On Sept. 8, 1962, he married Vera D. Reuber at St. John's Lutheran Church in Denver. He and his wife considered Atwood to be their second home.

He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church of Denver, and a Boy Scout leader for Troop 199 of Denver.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Vera on Oct. 6, 1996; and one brother, Richard Johnson.

Survivors include one son, Edgar "Eddie" Johnson of Denver; one brother, Larry and wife, Sandra of Meeker, Colo.; his mother-in-law, Rosie Reuber of Atwood; one nephew, Joshua Johnson; one niece, Beth Johnson; and two aunts, Velma Norman of Denver, and Toots Enlow of Morrison, Colo.

Services will be Friday, 2 p.m., at the Redeemer Evangelical Lutheran Church in Atwood with the Rev. Don White officiating. Interment will be at the Atwood Fairview Cemetery in Atwood. Military rites will be provided by the Sam Hubbard American Legion Post. No. 46 of Atwood.

Visitation will be Thursday, 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., at Brantley Funeral Home of Atwood, and Friday, 9 to 11 a.m. at the funeral home, and from noon until the time of the service at the church.

Memorials may be given in his name to the Redeemer Lutheran Building Fund in Atwood, or to Boy Scout Troop 199 in Denver.
