James 'Jim' W. Anderson
James "Jim" W. Anderson, 93, died Monday (October 22, 2001) at the El Dorado Manor in Trenton.
He was born March 15, 1908, at Denver, Colo., to Aurther Rolland and Charlotte Pearl (Harrison) Anderson. He attended McCook Public Schools.
On Oct. 16, 1929, he married Arvilla B. Pate at Oberlin. He worked at the McCook Air Base and later was a custodian at McCook Public Library until his retirement in 1987. He had been living at the El Dorado Manor since 1999.
He was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church, and a life-time member of the Knights of Columbus. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Arvilla on Jan. 17, 1972; one son-in-law, Lyle Zink; and two sisters, Mary Louise Humphrey and Helen Bollerup.
Survivors include two daughters, Avis Morell and husband, Rex of McCook, and Evelyn Zink of Grand Island; two sisters-in-law, Esther Pate Stone of Denver, and Eloise Pate of Lusk, Wyo.; three brothers-in-law, Fred Pate of Sheridan, Wyo., Philip Pate of North Platte and Ray Henry of Safford, Ariz.; 11 grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Mass of Christian Burial services will be Friday, 10 a.m., at St. Patrick's Catholic Church with the Rev. Gary Brethour officiating. Interment will be at the Calvary Cemetery.
The rosary service will be Thursday, 7:30 p.m., at Carpenter Breland Chapel.
Visitation is today until 5:00 p.m., Wednesday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Thursday, 9 a.m. until the time of the rosary service.
Memorials may be given in his name.
