Charles D. Ridenour
HOLDREGE -- Charles David Ridenour, 77, died Thursday (Oct. 25, 2001) at Holdrege Memorial Homes.
He was born Nov. 2, 1923, in Phelps County to Clinton and Verna (Henderson) Ridenour. He attended rural school north of Holdrege and graduated from Holdrege High School with the class of 1942. He was employed by Sears at Minneapolis, Minn., for a few years after high school. He then returned to Holdrege where he was engaged in farming until his retirement.
On Feb. 23, 1945, he married Thelma Marie Bryan. They made their home on a farm west of Holdrege.
He was an active member of the First United Methodist Church in Holdrege, a past member of the CO-OP Board, and the Laird Township Board.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and one grandson, Wesley Allen Nelson.
Survivors include his wife, Thelma of Holdrege; two daughters, Connie Nelson and husband, Wes of Holdrege, and Lori Carfield and husband, Kevin of McCook; four sons, Bob Ridenour and wife, Becky of McCook, Ross Ridenour and wife, Linda of Broken Bow, Tom Ridenour of Holdrege, and Rod Ridenour and wife, Pat of Holdrege; two brothers, Dr. Robert J. Ridenour and wife, Betty of Haxtun, Colo.; 14 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Services will be Wednesday, 10:30 a.m., at the First United Methodist Church in Holdrege with the Rev. Melva Tranmer officiating. Inurnment will be at a later date.
The memorial book signing will be Tuesday, 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., at the Nelson-Harris Funeral Home in Holdrege, with the family greeting from 6:30 to 8 p.m.
Memorials may be given in his name.
