Elsie M. Peterson
ATWOOD -- Elsie M. Peterson, 86, of Atwood, died Tuesday (Oct. 30, 2001) at the Cedar Living Center in Oberlin.
She was born Nov. 22, 1914, in a sod house in Union Township in Rawlins County, Kan., to Axel Gerion Albin and Beda Victoria (Peterson) Peterson. She attended District 72 Sunrise country school. She was a lifetime area resident, a homemaker, and employed for several years by Dr. and Mrs. Charles Henneberger. She lived most of her life on the family farm with her brother, Herbert, moving into Atwood in 1991.
She was a member of the Herndon Covenant Church, and Covenant Women of rural Herndon.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and three brothers, Conrad in 1914, Clarence in 1981, and Herbert in 2000.
Survivors include two nieces, Connie Peckham and husband, Charles of Atwood, and Tonya Hill and husband, Terry of Fort Dora, Fla.; one sister-in-law, Bessie Beth Peterson of Atwood; two great-nieces; and two great-nephews.
Services will be Friday, 2 p.m., at the Herndon Covenant Church in rural Herndon with the Rev. Keith Reuther officiating. Interment will be at the Atwood Fairview Cemetery in Atwood.
Visitation is today until 9 p.m. at Brantley Funeral Home of Atwood, and Friday, noon until the time of the service at the church.
Memorials may be given in her name to the Herndon Covenant Church.
