William 'Bill' Bryan Hanthorn
INDIANLOLA -- William "Bill" Bryan Hanthorn, 86, of Indianola, died Friday (November 2, 2001) at Hillcrest Nursing Home.
He was born June 16, 1915, in Frontier County to James and Margaret (Powers) Hanthorn. He attended rural school District No. 37 in Frontier County, and had started attending Havana High School when he left to help his father on the farm. In 1945, he purchased the family farm and he and his sister, Georgia, made their home there.
In 1973, he sold the farm ground but reserved the house and yard. They both moved to Gothenburg for a short time. They returned to their home and he purchased a truck for commercial hauling. They also raised hogs.
He to moved to Hillcrest Nursing Home because of his health in September 1998.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, John, Ralph "Pat" and Emmett "Mo" Hanthorn; and four sisters, Mrs. Esther Sughroue, Mrs. Blanche Teel, Nellie Hanthorn and Georgia Hanthorn.
Survivors include one sister-in-law, Grace Hanthorn of McCook; nine nieces; and four nephews.
Services will be Monday, 10:30 a.m., at the Carpenter Funeral Home in Indianola with Jerry Beckenhauer officiating. Interment will be at the Indianola Cemetery.
Visitation will be Sunday, 4 to 6 p.m., at the funeral home. Memorials may be given in his name.
