Robert "Bob" E. Rasser, 86, died Wednesday (October, 31, 2001), at McCook Community Hospital.
He was born Nov. 8, 1914, at Red Cloud to Benjamin and Hazel (Rust) Rasser. The family moved to Gillete, Wyo., when he was two years old, and homesteaded there. They returned to Red Cloud when he was six years old. He graduated from Red Cloud High School in 1933.
On June 23, 1937, he married Gerri Reichstein at Red Cloud. They lived in McCook before moving to Alliance and Lincoln for five years. They then returned to make McCook their home. He was employed by Burlington Northern Railroad for 41 years until he retired in 1977. He then worked part-time for Carpenter Breland Funeral Home for 23 years.
He was a member of Memorial United Methodist Church for more than 60 years, the McCook BPOE Elks Lodge No. 1434 for 65 years, and the Eagles Club.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Benjamin and Hazel Rasser.
Survivors include his wife, Gerri of McCook; one son, Larry Rasser and wife, Dee of Flagstaff, Ariz.; one sister, Pauline Reichstein of Red Cloud; two grandsons; and two great-grandsons.
Services will be Tuesday, 11 a.m., at Memorial United Methodist Church with the Rev. Dr. Jeffery Thurman officiating. Interment will be at Memorial Park Cemetery.
Visitation will be Sunday 2 to 8 p.m., and Monday 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. at Carpenter Breland Funeral Home of McCook.
Memorials may be given in his name.
