Donald D. Harris
HOLDREGE -- Donald D. Harris, 56, died Wednesday (Nov. 7, 2001) at the Phelps Memorial Health Center in Holdrege.
He was born Aug. 29, 1945, at McCook to Ed and Bernie (Wilcox) Harris. He attended school at Holdrege and graduated from Holdrege High School with the class of 1963.
On June 13, 1964, he married Rogene Renken. They made their home in Holdrege where they owned and operated Harris Oil for many years. At the time of his death, he owned and operated Harris Lawn service in Holdrege.
He was a member of the Bethel Lutheran Church, and a past member of the Holdrege Volunteer Fire Department.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Bob Harris; and his father-in-law, Elmer Renken, both in 1998.
Survivors include his wife, Rogene of Holdrege; two daughters, Brenda Gray and husband, Dale of Holdrege, and Janie Thorell and husband, Brice of Holdrege; one brother, Jim Harris of Lincoln; one sister-in-law, Betty Jo Harris of Austin, Texas; two brothers-in-law, Doug Renken and wife, Bev of Omaha, and Dale Renken and wife, Alice of Omaha; and five grandchildren.
Services will be Saturday, 10:30 a.m., at the Bethel Lutheran Church in Holdrege with the Rev. David Sites officiating. Interment will be at the Prairie Home Cemetery in Holdrege.
Visitation is today until 9 p.m. at Nelson Funeral Home in Holdrege. The family will be present from 7 to 8 p.m.
