Gail Elaine (Crowell) Sitzman
WAUNETA -- Gaile Elaine (Crowell) Sitzman, 78, formerly of Culbertson, died Tuesday (Nov. 6, 2001) at Wauneta.
She was born Nov. 30, 1924, at Guide Rock to James and Blanche Crowell. She was baptized on April 1, 1956. She graduated from Culbertson High School in 1944. She obtained a teaching certificate through normal training, and taught country school.
On Jan. 10, 1946, she married Edward H. Sitzman at Culbertson. She was a housewife and helped her husband on the family farm.
She was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church in Culbertson, and served many years on the Memorial Committee. She served several terms as the director of the Frenchman Valley Irrigation District. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Edward; and her daughter, Sandra Bauer.
Survivors include two sons, Larry Sitzman and wife, Sally of Columbus, and Kyle Sitzman and wife, Debbie of Lincoln; one daughter, Janet Nordhausen and husband, Harold of Wauneta; one son-in-law, Alan Bauer of Culbertson; two brothers, Kirk Crowell and wife, Virginia of Loveland, Colo., and Daryl Crowell and wife, Sandi of Loveland; one sister, Nancy West and husband, Dean of Glenwood, Iowa; 11 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Services were Friday at the United Methodist Church in Culbertson with the Rev. Daniel Spearow officiating. Interment was at the Culbertson Cemetery.
Memorials may be given in her name.
