Eileen Leora West

CAMBRIDGE -- Eileen Leora West, 80, of Cambridge, formerly of McCook, died Thursday (Nov. 15, 2001) at the Tri Valley Hospital in Cambridge.

She was born March 7, 1921, at McCook to Arthur and Hannah (Swedberg) West. She graduated from Maywood High School in 1940.

She moved to Denver, Colo., after her graduation where she worked as a housekeeper for Ethel Merman and other celebrities. She was also employed by Gates Rubber Company.

She returned to McCook in 1980, and moved into the Cambridge Parkside Manor in July of 1990 where she lived until her death.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and two brothers, Carl at birth, and Wilbur in 1997.

Survivors include one brother, Donald West and wife, Yvonne of McCook; two nephews, Donald Jr. West and wife, Heather of Weatherford, Texas, and Douglas West of McCook; and one great-niece, Grace Catherine West.

Services will be Tuesday, 2 p.m., at the Lockenour-Jones Mortuary in Cambridge with the Rev. Art Phillips officiating. Interment will be at Memorial Park Cemetery in McCook. Memorials may be given in her name.
