Freda Cecelia Nokes
OBERLIN -- Freda Cecelia Nokes, 87, died Saturday (Nov. 17, 2001) at Cedar Living Center in Oberlin.
She was born Oct. 30, 1914, at Herndon to Stephen and Mary Marla (Pringetzer) Goltl. She was raised north of Herndon, and attended North Rural country school.
On Sept. 27, 1940, she married Marion Nokes at Stockville. She was a homemaker. They lived on a farm northwest of Lebanon, and in Cambridge, and moved to Oberlin in 1998.
She was a member of the Herndon Evangelical Reformed Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Marion in September 2000; six brothers, George, Paul, Fred, Victor, John and Stephen Goltl; and two sisters, Eva Pavlicek and Susie Beneda.
Survivors include four daughters, Phyllis Zeller and husband, Richard of Ravenna, Shirley Axtell and husband, Eugene of Danbury, Mary Gutchewsky and husband, Jack of Herndon, and Linda Clapp of Grand Island; 11 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and one step-great-grandchild.
Services will be Tuesday, 10:30 a.m., at the Oberlin Methodist Church with the Rev. Doug Hasty officiating. Interment will be at the Lebanon Cemetery.
Visitation is tonight until 8 p.m. at Pauls Funeral Home of Oberlin, and Tuesday, 8 a.m. until service time at the church.
Memorials may be given in her name to the Wheatridge Terrace, or to the donor's choice.
