Clifford Wayne Tourtellotte
Clifford Wayne Tourtellotte, 77, died Saturday (Nov. 24, 2001) at Community Hospital of McCook.
He was born Feb. 21, 1924, at McCook to Harold O. and Margaret Susanne (O'Brien) Tourtellotte. He began working with his father at a very young age. He was designated a professional mechanic at age 15 and quit school, completing 10th grade. He worked at his father's garage until his father died in 1969.
He joined the U.S. Navy to participate in World War II. He was stationed briefly in Australia, Chicago, and San Francisco, and served on the USS Hudson and USS Meade.
He retired from Schamel's Auto Supply when he learned he had cancer in 1991.
He was active in the McCook Assembly of God church as Sunday School Superintendent and a board member. His other work at the church included making renovations, additions, and paving the parking lot. He also drove the Sunday School bus for many youth activities.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Irene on Nov. 22, 1999; one brother, Earl Eugene Tourtellotte; and two infant sisters, Barbara Jean and Margaret Susanne.
Survivors include one daughter, Cynthia Reynolds; one son, Mark Tourtellotte and wife, Gene; one sister, Ruth Callen of McCook; and three grandchildren.
Services will be Thursday, 10 a.m., at the First Assembly of God Church in McCook with the Rev. Charles Hooton officiating. Interment will be at Memorial Park Cemetery in McCook.
Visitation is tonight until 8 p.m., Tuesday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Wednesday, 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. at the funeral home in McCook.
Memorials may be given in his name.
