Lawrence A. Jurey

WILSONVILLE -- Lawrence A. Jurey, 69, died Tuesday (Nov. 27, 2001) at his home in Wilsonville.

He was born April 4, 1932, in Norton County, Kan., to Edmund and Geneva (Alkire) Jurey. He attended country school in Norton County.

On April 26, 1952, he married Marilyn Catt. He worked for the Nebraska Department of Roads for 10 years. He traveled with his family on different sales jobs. They lived in Norcatur, Kan., Wilsonville, Cambridge, and several small towns in Southwest Iowa before returning to Wilsonville in 1972. He was employed by Crownline Plastic's Company. He was a member of a local dance band.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one half-sister, Dollie; six siblings, Wesley, Maxine, Pearl, Lucille, Crystal and Dick; and one granddaughter, Kary Lynn Jurey.

Survivors include five sons, Ben and wife, Kathy of Sidney, Iowa, Mike and wife, Colleen, also of Sidney, Bert and wife, Laurie of Wilsonville, Lynn and wife, Lauretta of Milton, Fla., and Opie and wife, Shelly of Kearney; one daughter, Joe and husband, Kim Helms of Holbrook; two brothers, Lee and wife, Eva of Palmyra, and Roy and wife, Carolyn of Kerwin, Kan.; one sister, Violet and husband, Dick Moreland of Anderson, Iowa; 16 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Memorial services will be Friday, 10:30 a.m., at the Lockenour-Jones Mortuary in Cambridge. Interment will be at the Wilsonville Cemetery.

Memorials may be given in his name.
