Roger E. Taynor

NEW CARLISLE, Ohio -- Roger E. Taynor, 74, died Friday, (Nov. 30, 2001) at Wilson Memorial Hospital in Sidney, Ohio. He was born June 20, 1927, at New Carlisle to Ezra and Pearl (West) Taynor.

He was a lifelong resident of New Carlisle, served his country during World War II in the U.S. Air Force, and retired as assistant fire chief from WPAFB in 1981.

He served as captain, dispatcher and assistant fire chief for the New Carlisle Fire Department, was an active member of the Retired Fire Fighters Association at WPAFB, and was a member of the New Carlisle Church of the Brethren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Marvin and Kenneth Taynor; and one daughter, Lou Anne Vondrell.

Survivors include his wife, Donna L. (Burkhalter) Taynor; two daughters, Christina Amrosek and husband, Robert of Haigler, Karen Lutz and husband, Mickey of Benkelman; one son, Brent Taynor and wife, Janice of Dayton, Ohio; one brother, Donnal Taynor of New Market, Ohio; one son-in-law, William Vondress of Celina, Ohio; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be Friday, 11 a.m. MST, at Forch Funeral Chapel with the Rev. George Matthews officiating. Interment with military honors will follow at the Benkelman Cemetery.

Visitation will be Friday, 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. (MST). Memorials may be given in his name.
