Harry Hein

Harry Hein, 92, died Thursday (Dec. 6, 2001) at Hillcrest Nursing Home of McCook.

He was born June 19, 1909, at McCook to John C. and Anna Margaret (Lenhart) Hein. He grew up at Culbertson where he graduated from rural school. He began farming on the family farm at Culbertson.

On Jan. 23, 1934, he married Frieda Hein at Oberlin. They moved to Denver, Colo., where he worked for Gates Rubber Company. She preceded him in death on Feb. 17, 1943.

He returned to McCook where he worked as an aircraft mechanic at the Army Air Base north of McCook.

On Sept. 19, 1944, he married Hannah (Pollman) Baumfalk at Culbertson. They farmed southwest of Culbertson until retiring in 1984 when they moved to McCook. He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Frieda; three brothers, John Hein, Jake Hein and Wylie Hein; and four sisters, Lydia Sinner, Anna Walter, Lena Schafer and Esther Brehm.

Survivors include his wife, Hannah of McCook; two daughters, Joan Mills and husband, Gary of McCook, and Janice Kraus of Ogallala; four sons, Kenneth Baumfalk, Eugene Baumfalk and wife, Cleta, Gerald Hein and wife, Barbara, and Robert hein and wife, Jan, all of McCook; 19 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

Services will be Tuesday, 10:30 a.m., at St. John's Lutheran Church at Culbertson with the Rev. Brian Hopfensperger officiating. Interment will be at the Culbertson Cemetery.
