Gail Thomas Collicott
YUMA COUNTY, Colo. -- Gail Thomas Collicott, 48, of Max, died Friday (Dec. 7, 2001), in Yuma County as a result of an automobile accident.
He was born Aug. 21, 1953, at Benkelman to LaVoine and Opal (Myer) Collicott. He attended school in Haigler, graduating from Haigler High School in 1972. He represented Haigler High School in the Class D State Boys Track Meet several years. He was frequently named Most Valuable Player in football, basketball, and track. His senior year in high school, he and his twin sister, Galena were named Homecoming King and Queen.
He continued his education at McCook Community College where he graduated in 1974 with an Associates Degree. After college he was employed by Burlington Northern Railroad, and served 27 years with the company.
He spent most of his life in southwest Nebraska, keeping his home here even when his job with the railroad required him to travel throughout Nebraska, Colorado, Wyoming, and Iowa. In 1966, he became a member of the Haigler United Methodist Church.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Charlie and Glena Collicott, and Bertha and James Myer. Survivors include his parents, LaVoine and Opal Collicott of Haigler; twin sons, Mitchell and Matthew Collicott of Benkelman; three sisters, LaNeta Carlock and husband, Stanley, Myrna Mulligan and husband, Charlie, and twin sister Galena Webster and husband, Stanley, all of Haigler; former wife, Melissa Rosenfelt of Benkelman; and special friend, Tuesday Forch and daughter, Jyssica of Stratton.
Funeral services will be Thursday, 2 p.m. (MST), at the United Methodist Church in Haigler with the Rev. Inez Foster officiating. Interment will follow at the Haigler Cemetery. Visitation is today until 8 p.m. MST at Forch Funeral Chapel of Benkelman.
