Anna Ellen Barnett
GARDEN CITY, Kan. -- Anna Ellen Barnett, 89, died Monday (Dec. 17, 2001) at St. Catherine's Hospital in Garden City.
She was born June 23, 1912, at Selden, Kan., to Allen and Rena (Jensen) Cheney. She was raised in the Hawkeye community in Decatur County, Kan. She attended Fairview Country School.
She married Harray A. Barnett. She was a homemaker. They lived in Rexford, Kan. She moved to Dodge City, Kan., after he preceded her in death.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Harray; one daughter, Blanche Barnett; and two brothers, Bill and Carl Cheney.
Survivors include two sons, Dale Barnett of Rexford, and Harold Barnett of Pahrump, Nev.; two daughters, Harriet Jeffries and husband, Jerry of Bayfield, Colo., and Ethel Smith and husband, Carroll of Dodge City; one brother, Jim Cheney of Rexford; four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Graveside services will be Thursday, 2 p.m., at the Hawkeye Cemetery in Decatur County with the Rev. Gary Taylor officiating.
Visitation will be Wednesday, 6 to 8 p.m., and Thursday, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., at Pauls Funeral Home of Selden.
Memorials may be given in her name to the Rexford or Gem, Kan., Church.
