BEAVER CITY ? Glenn W. Cornell, 89, died Saturday (Dec. 22, 2001) at the Beaver City Manor. He was born Feb. 25, 1912, at Beaver City to Walter and Laura (Teeter) Cornell. He grew up in the Beaver City and Hendley areas. He started flying in 1948 and flew for 15 years. He was a charter member of Flying Farmers. He drove a school bus for the Hendley School District for a number of years. He also farmed southwest of Beaver City in the Spring Green area. In 1958 he retired from farming and moved into Hendley. He moved to the Beaver City Manor on Jan. 18, 2000. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church at Hendley for more than 50 years, and recently transferred his membership to the First United Methodist Church at Beaver City. He was also a member of the Monument Masonic Lodge No. 293 at Arapahoe, was a past Master, and was a member of the Scottish Rite Masons of Hastings. He was preceded in death by his parents; and his step-mother. Survivors include one sister, Florence Cornell of Beaver City; and several cousins. Services will be Wednesday, 2 p.m., at Wenburg Funeral Home in Beaver City with the Rev. Linda Knipping officiating. Interment with Masonic Rites will be at Mount Hope Cemetery at Beaver City. Visitation is tonight until 8 p.m., and Wednesday 9 a.m. until the time of the services at Wenburg Funeral Home in Beaver City. Memorials may be given in his name to the Monument Masonic Lodge No. 293. Wenburg Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
