Charles A. Jacobs

Charles A. Jacobs, 84, of McCook died Saturday (Dec. 22, 2001) at LGH West in Lincoln. He was born Nov. 9, 1917, at Voltaire, N.D., to Charles D. and Florence (Sharp) Jacobs. He graduated from Sandstone High School in Sandstone, Minn., in 1937. On April 3, 1941, he married Inger M. Christensen at Moose Lake, Minn. He entered the U.S. Army Air Corps in June of 1941, and served during World Warr II. He was honorably discharged in 1945. After his discharge from the military, he was employed as a construction maintenance supervisor, and in aircraft construction. He retired in 1980, and moved to McCook in 1986. He attended the McCook Christian Church and was a member of the American Legion. He was preceded in death by his parents; and one brother, Harvey. Survivors include his wife, Inger of McCook; five sons, Charles and wife, Lee of Perry, Ga., Larry and wife, Jeannie of Duluth, Minn., Duane and wife, Patricia of Stafford, Va., Curtis and wife, Pamela of McCook, and Terry and wife, Lisa of Hooks, Texas; one daughter, Leeann McCarty and husband, Chris of McCook; 17 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Services will be Friday, 10 a.m., at the Carpenter Breland Chapel in McCook with Pastor Clark Bates officiating. A private inurnment service for the family will take place at a later date. Visitation is tonight until 5 p.m., and Thursday, 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., at the funeral home. Carpenter Breland Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
