Loren D. Welsh
DANBURY -- Loren D. Welsh, 77, died Saturday (Dec. 29, 2001) at McCook.
He was born May 29, 1924, at Danbury, to Nathaniel Welsh and Adda Alma (Miller) Welsh. He grew up in Decatur County, Kan., and graduated from Oberlin High School in 1942.
He entered the U.S. Army Air Corps and served in the European Theater during World War II.
On July 24, 1946, he married Margie Smalberger at Oberlin. They made their home at Danbury where they farmed for 52 years.
He was a member of the McDonald Ryan American Legion Post at Danbury and the Beaver Valley Veterans of Foreign Wars at Lebanon.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include his wife, Margie, of McCook; two daughters, Janice and husband, Dennis Kisker of McCook, Donna and husband, Gary Barth of Culbertson; one son, Leon and wife, Susan Welsh of Kearney; one sister, Nadene and husband, Virgil Lafferty of Danbury; five grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Services will be Wednesday, 10:30 a.m., at the Herrmann Memorial Chapel at McCook with the Rev. Dan Spearow officiating. Interment, with military honors, will be at the Sherman Chapel Cemetery southwest of Danbury.
Friends may call at Herrmann Funeral Home (which will be closed Tuesday for the New Year's holiday).
