Dorothy Pauline Boyd

CURTIS -- Dorothy Pauline (Walter) Boyd, 73, died Monday (Dec. 31, 2001) at Sunset Haven Nursing Home in Curtis.

She was born June 25, 1928, at McCook to George and Marie Katherine (Lesser) Walter. She was baptized in 1928 and confirmed in 1943 at the Westside First Congregational Church. She attended grade school and high school in McCook. She worked briefly for the Northwestern Bell Telephone Company prior to her marriage.

On Feb. 22, 1948, she married Harold DeWayne Boyd at McCook. She was a homemaker.

She remained at home with her family for 10 years following her diagnosis of Alzheimer's disease. She moved to Sunset Haven in Curtis in 1987.

She was preceded in death by her parents; an infant son, Russell; her husband, Harold; five brothers, Jake in infancy, Jacob, George Jr., Reinhart "Shorty," and Carl; and one sister, Helen Lindblad.

Survivors include her son, Timothy Boyd and wife, Jennifer of McCook; two daughters, Sandi Pettera and husband, Jim of McCook and Sharon Colling of Tecumseh; two sisters, Ruth Thorndike of Colorado, and Edna Cooper of Cheyenne, Wyo.; and nine grandchildren.

Graveside services will be Thursday, 2 p.m., at Memorial Park Cemetery with Jerry Beckenhauer officiating.

There will be no visitation.

Memorials may be given in her name to the Alzheimer's Association.

Carpenter Breland Funeral Home of McCook is in charge of the arrangements.
