OMAHA -- Martha A. Schneider, 83, died Tuesday (Jan. 15, 2002).

She was born Nov. 18, 1918, east of Quick in Frontier County to Bryan and Arlilla (Jewell) Harrison. She attended rural school through the eighth grade and earned her high school diploma later in her adult life.

On March 28, 1936, she married Ernest Schneider at Oberlin. She served as a volunteer with the Kidney Foundation and the Nebraska Humane Society.

She was a member of the Garden Prairie Methodist Church, rural McCook, for most of her life, transferring her membership to St. Paul's United Methodist Church in Omaha later in life.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ernest; and two sons, Ernie and William.

Survivors include three sons, Robert and wife, Mary Schneider of San Diego, Calif., Raymond Schneider of Mount Holly N.C., and Don and wife, Karen Schneider of Ames; two daughters, Sharon and husband, Jan Ford of Vine Grove, Ky., and Iona Hansen of Omaha; two brothers, Edward Harrison of Englewood, Colo., and Francis Harrison of Cheyenne, Wyo.; three sisters, Leonainie Walker of Laramie, Wyo., Betty Sutherland of Bakersfield, Calif., and Faye Hale of Los Angeles, Calif.; 21 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be Saturday, 11 a.m., at the Gaslin Cemetery south of Brady.

There is no visitation.

Memorials may be made to the Kidney Foundation, the Nebraska Humane Society or to St. Paul's United Methodist Church at Omaha.
