Gerald W. 'Jerry' Gammill
NAMPA, Idaho -- Gerald W. "Jerry" Gammill, 89, died Thursday (Jan. 10, 2002) at a hospital in Boise, Idaho.
He was born Dec. 14, 1912, to Elwood and Nellie Gammill in a sod house near Stockville. His early years of schooling were spent in Indianola and Bartley. He graduated from Bartley High School in 1931. In 1933, he joined the Civilian Conservation Corps and spent a year in Oregon, felling timber, building roads and working in a rock quarry.
He moved to Nampa, Idaho, in 1934, where he worked for many years for the Department of Health and Welfare at the Idaho State School and Hospital.
He married Edna F. King on May 4, 1938, in Caldwell, Idaho. He was preceded in death by his wife, Edna; son Mickeal Wren; his parents; two brothers, James and Howard; and two sisters, Thelma and Kathryn.
Survivors include a son, Gary Gammill and wife, Judy of Nampa; a sister, Lucille Kleesick of Bartley and her daughter, Patsy Lee Redfern of McCook; and two grandchildren.
Funeral services were Jan. 15, at Alsip & Persons Funeral Chapel in Nampa. Burial was at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens.
