Verla E. (Grout) Most Bendes
DENVER, Colo. -- Verla E. (Grout) Most Bendes, 85, died Sunday (Jan. 20, 2002) at Hospice of St. John's in Denver.
She was born Nov. 11, 1916, in Rawlins County to Robert Rose and Edna Emily (Lloyd) Grout. She attended Fairview District No. 48 and Atwood Community High School. She lived in Maywood, Portland, Ore., and Atwood before moving to Denver in 1956.
She was married to Lyle Most. He died in 1971. She then married John Bendes. She was a homemaker.
She was a member of the Southwest Baptist Church in Denver. She was preceded in death by both husbands, Lyle in 1971, and John in 2002; one brother, Ira Grout; and one sister, Freda Most.
Survivors include one brother, Lewie Grout and wife, Bette of Atwood; and twin sisters, Esther Ocker of Brighton, Colo., and Edith Hansen of Denver.
There will be no visitation.
Graveside services will be Thursday, 2 p.m., at the Fairview Cemetery in Atwood with the Rev. James Larson officiating.
Memorials may be given in her name to Southwest Baptist Church or the Alzheimer's Foundation, Rocky Mountain Chapter, in Denver.
