CURTIS -- Marie M. Littlefield, 102, died Friday (Jan. 25, 2002) at Sunset Haven Nursing Home.

She was born Mar. 30, 1899, in Lincoln County to Jens and Nellie (Swink) Jensen. She graduated from Nebraska School of Agriculture in 1918. She taught school for a year south of Curtis.

On Aug. 24, 1921, she married Joe Littlefield near Curtis. They farmed north of Curtis until moving into town in 1965. She was a member of the Needle Craft Extension Club and she practiced the Christian Science faith.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Joe; one brother, Bill; and one sister, Ellen Russell.

Survivors include four nephews, Bob and wife, Lela Russell of Curtis, Tom and wife, Virginia Russell of Kearney, Ben Jr. and wife, Darlene Russell of East Moline, Ill., and Raymond and wife, Donna Russell of Denver, Colo.; and four nieces, Elenita Anderson of Moorefield, Fern and husband, Deac Wills of Curtis, Anna May and husband, Richard Gorley of Red Cloud, and June and husband, Jim McGinnis of Omaha.

Services will be Monday, 3 p.m., at the First United Methodist Church in Curtis, with Rev. Richard Sykes officiating. Interment will be at Curtis Cemetery.

Visitation will be Saturday, 9 a.m. - 5 p.m., and Sunday, 1 - 5 p.m.

Memorial may be left in his name at Sunset Nursing Home or donors choice.

Blase Wetzel Funeral Home in Curtis is in charge of the arrangements.
