Margaret 'Madge' Kaus
OBERLIN -- Margaret "Madge" Kaus, 89, died Sunday (Jan. 27, 2002) at Decatur County Hospital in Oberlin.
She was born April 9, 1912, to Bernard and Hedwig "Hatti" (Zodrow) Schroer in Cottonwood, Idaho. She was raised in Ferdinand, Idaho and attended Idaho County Elementary and Ferdinand High School.
On May 9, 1931, she married William John Kaus in Oregon. They lived in Idaho, Kansas, Oregon and Colorado before settling in Selden in 1959. She moved to Oberlin in 1968. She was a homemaker.
She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Oberlin. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one son, James A. Kaus; one daughter, Velma Neff; and two sisters, Mary Herzog and Wilma Schroer.
Survivors include four sons, William Kaus of Englewood, Colo., Joe and wife, Nora Kaus of Lafayette, Colo., Tom and wife, Terri Kaus of Liberal, Kan., and Alvin and wife, Ardis Kaus of Colby; one daughter, Lola and husband, Merlin Diederich of Cape Coral, Fla.; one son-in-law, Paulie Neff of Dresden; one daughter-in-law, Twila Kaus of Duncan, Okla.; 32 grandchildren; 46 great-grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren.
Services will be Tuesday, 10:30 a.m., at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Oberlin with the Rev. James Hoover and Sister Marilyn Wall officiating. Interment will be in the Selden Cemetery.
A vigil service will be today at 7:30 p.m. at Pauls Funeral Home in Oberlin. Visitation is today, 3-8 p.m., and Tuesday 8-10 a.m. at the funeral home.
Memorials may be given in her name.
