MAYWOOD -- Dorothea Mae Dodson, 89, died Friday (Feb. 1, 2002) at Great Plains Regional Medical Center in North Platte.

She was born Jan. 6, 1913, in Frontier County to Robert and Mabel (Dyer) Loghry. She graduated from Nebraska School of Agriculture, Curtis, in 1930, and taught school in Red Willow County for a few years.

On May 7, 1932, she married Harold A. Dodson at Chapell. They ranched and farmed north of Maywood for 48 years. They moved to Maywood in 1980. He preceded her in death in 1987.

She was a 40-year member of the United Rebecca Lodge No. 411 of Welfleet. She was also a member of Willing Workers Club and Royal Neighbors of America.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Harold; two brothers, Jay and Lloyd; three grandchildren, Randy Lee Mayfield, Jonie Marie Mayfield and Douglas Duane Shirley; and one great-grandson, Landon Dawson.

Survivors include two daughters, Eileen and husband, Vernon Shirley and Phyllis and husband Bud Mayfield, all of North Platte; one son, Duane and wife, Beverly Dodson of Maywood; two sisters-in-law, Irene Loghry of McCook and Mayme Dodson of Curtis; 10 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren.

Services will be Tuesday, 10:30 a.m., at the Maywood Community Hall with Pastor Dale Heimer officiating. Burial will be at the Maywood Cemetery.

Visitation will be Sunday, 1-5 p.m. and Monday, 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Memorials are being accepted in her name.
