Marie Margaret (Stash) Green

ATWOOD -- Marie Margaret (Stash) Green, 76, died Friday (Feb. 8, 2002) at the Good Samaritan Center in Atwood.

She was born June 2, 1925, to Martin and Mary (Bilsky) Stash in Carbondale, Pa. She grew up in Carbondale where she graduated from high school before moving to Bridgeport, Conn., where she worked as a telephone operator.

On Jan. 18, 1944, she married Joseph C. "Bud" Green and they moved to a farm near Herndon. She was a homemaker and worked as a nurse's aid at Rawlins County Hospital in Atwood and the Decatur County Hospital in Oberlin. The couple retired in Atwood.

She was a member of St. Mary's Assumption Catholic Church and the Christian Mothers Altar Society, and the Richland Club, all of Herndon.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband; one son, Richard; three sisters, Helen Kadlec, Josie Cuyle, and Veronica Chapan; and one brother, Andrew Stash.

Survivors include two daughters, Judith Anne and husband, Dan Childers of Sebring, Fla., and Mary Jo Green of Leoti, Kan.; four sons, Joe and wife, Judy of Applegate, Ore., Andrew "Andy" and wife, Sandra of Herndon, Tom and wife, Colleen of Hereford, Ariz., and Bob and wife, Veta of Concord, Ohio; one brother, Joe Stash of Fort Myers, Fla.; five sisters, Irene Stash and Martha O'Neil of Johnson City, N.Y., Eleanor Clark of Vestal, N.Y., Catherine and husband, Emil Majka of Endicott, N.Y., and Ruth and husband, Ray Monsky of Milford, Conn.; two brothers-in-law, Chet Cuyle of Vt., and Gerald Green of Herndon; a daughter-in-law, Sharon Green of Craig, Colo.; 21 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday, 10:30 a.m., at St. Mary's Assumption Catholic Church in Herndon with the Rev. Damian Richards as celebrant. Interment will be in the church cemetery.

A parish vigil and Christian Mothers Altar Society rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. tonight at the church. Visitation is today until 6 p.m., at the church and before service time on Tuesday.

Memorials may be given in her name.
