ARAPAHOE -- Eleanor M. Horton, 91, died Friday (Feb. 15, 2002) at C.A. Mues Good Samaritan Center.
She was born on Jan. 20, 1911, to Thomas and Amelea (Faholz) Penn in Wakita, Okla.
In 1928, she married George Brown in Norton, Kan. They lived and farmed south of Arapahoe until 1946. She worked as a civil service employee with the Bureau of Reclamation in Arapahoe and Sargent.
In 1956, she married Merton Horton in Beaver City. They made their home in Arapahoe.
She was a member of the Christian Church of Christ in Arapahoe and taught Sunday school and played the organ there. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, George Brown; second husband, Merton Horton; one sister, Lillia Kellogg; and two brothers, Clinton and R.L. Penn.
Survivors include sister-in-law, Lora Horton of Arapahoe; three nieces, Colleen Horton Weber, Rosalend Hamblin, and Rhonda Penn; and four nephews, Dan, Jerry, Paul, and Kenny Horton.
Services will be Monday, 2 p.m., at the Christian Church of Christ in Arapahoe with Pastor Milton Jones officiating. Interment will be at the Arapahoe Cemetery.
Visitation will be Saturday, 9 a.m. - 8 p.m., and Sunday, 1 - 8 p.m., at the Williamson-Wenberg Funeral Home in Arapahoe.
