ENDERS -- Esther Egle died Tuesday (Feb. 19, 2002) at her home in Enders.
She was born Nov. 24, 1916, to Clarence and Bertha (Herbert) Hahn. She spent her childhood in a farm near Hamlet. She graduated from Hamlet High School in 1933 and furthered her education at the Kearney State Normal School where she received her teaching certificate. She taught at the Star and Hamlet schools for three years.
On June 20, 1937, she married Robert Henry Egle at Hamlet Union Church. The couple made their home on a farm in the Eden Community.
She was a member of the Eden Sunshine Club, Christ's Church and Helping Hands for York College.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Josephine Hahn Reiman; and one granddaughter-in-law, Brenda Buffington Egle.
Survivors include her husband, Robert of Enders; four sons, Loren and wife, Pat Egle of Stratton, Norman and wife, Linda Egle of Thedford, Dennis and wife, Janet Egle of Stratton, and Duane and wife, LeAnn Egle of Gretna; one daughter, Linda Egle of Palisade; two brothers, Victor and wife, Marie Hahn of Denver, and Dick Hahn of Panama City, Fla.; one sister, Beth and husband, Bill Smith of Palisade; one brother-in-law, Virgil and wife, Grace Mae Egle of North Platte; one sister-in-law Elinor Egle and husband, Glen Beneda of Lompoc, Calif.; 11 grandchildren, and 22 great-grandchildren.
Services will be Saturday, 11 a.m. CST, at the Hamlet Union Church with the Rev. Matt Hoffman and Randy Hayes officiating. Interment will follow at the Eden Missionary Cemetery in rural Wauneta.
